Artists in Residence

The Artists in Residence Program was created to spark creativity, foster connection, and support overall wellness within our community. Designed as an educational initiative, social service, and community-building platform, the program brings the arts directly to our residents in meaningful and engaging ways. The program introduces residents to the arts through bi-weekly art classes, quarterly makers markets, pop-up events, seminars, exhibitions, and more.

Official Artist in Residence

Taylor Smith

Inside the building, Taylor Smith, known professionally as Dreamweaver, created a striking mural on the pool deck elevator tower. Her work explores themes of growth, movement, and the dance between light and color. Often incorporating flora and fauna, striking color combinations, and with special consideration to detail. Her art reflects a personal journey fueled by an appreciation for beauty and the endless marvels of nature.

“I have always felt a deep connection to nature. Florida’s abundance of wildlife and organic beauty has shaped my work. I want people to feel a sense of wonder when they look at it,” said Taylor Smith.

Dustin Miller

In an open courtyard between the Tampa Museum of Art and the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, AER commissioned Tampa Bay artist Dustin Miller to create a collection of large-scale outdoor sculptures that shape a new pedestrian promenade. The works are intended to encourage people to slow down, look up, and connect with the growing arts corridor.

“It’s a privilege to get to create for the community, and that my abstract work can provide a sense of relief or escape from normal structural realities. I love to use color in a sophisticated way to compliment modern architecture and spaces.” said Dustin Miller. “My hope is that these sculptures become a landmark to this awesome emerging arts district and represent our beautiful tropical area."

Jason Harvin

Owner of Wayward Walls, LLC. Over the years I've come to find a deep passion for space transformation through art & painting, specifically, geometric dominate design. Whether a room in your home, a mural in your business or art gallery installations, all spaces deserve to be uniquely designed. Seeing people's positive reactions to their newly designed walls is the most rewarding feelings so its deeply humbling to be the catalyst for that transformation.

Polen Cerci

Polen Cerci's artistry is a harmonious blend of architecture, design, and visual art, where she integrates abstract expressionism with architectural elements in her unique double-sided 2D sculptures. Her work is deeply inspired by nature, particularly the ocean, forests, and the raw beauty of the earth. Polen incorporates materials like hemp, jute, and shimmering accents of gold, copper, and bronze, symbolizing both the organic and precious aspects of the world. Her work reflects themes of transformation, resilience, and the beauty of imperfection, embracing life's flaws and transforming them into something more meaningful. Polen's art has been showcased at prestigious exhibitions such as Art Basel, the Coconut Grove Fine Art Gallery, and the W Icon exhibitions, and she continues to create thought-provoking art that fosters reflection and connection with both nature and the human spirit.

Sara Golding Scher

My work explores the space between the magical and the natural—where a mop becomes a flower, a barnacle a home, a flower falls out of a frame. Guided by intuition, I begin with color and let my unconscious shape each piece through weaving, cutting, and layering with an assortment of materials.. I search for brightness and hope amid the world’s uncertainty, allowing texture and openness to reflect life’s fragility and transformation. Each work is a dialogue between my conscious and unconscious selves—a floating heart seeking harmony, light, and beauty in the ever-shifting materials of nature and the self. - Sara Golding Scher
